Handy Hints for Starting Students

To all new students starting in Semester 2, Hello and Welcome! This blog is maintained by all of us in the Student Life Office to keep current students updated about what's happening on campus during the semester.  As a new student, this post is just for you! There are some useful "need-to-knows"  before starting on your University adventure and we look forward to seeing you on Orientation Day on Thursday 28 July! Remember to drop by the Student Life Office stand to collect your limited edition Notre Dame pencil case!


Many of the answers below refer to Notre Dame building numbers (eg ND3)

Q: Are there lockers available at Notre Dame?
A: Lockers  are available in Prindiville Hall ND3, near the Healthy Addiction counter. They cost $2 (take only $1 coins) per usage; once the locker is opened, another $2 will need to be paid to lock it again.

Q: Is there a microwave I can use to heat up my lunch?
A: Yes, in the Prindiville Hall ND3, across from Healthy Addiction.

Q: Where is the Lost and Found?
A: All items found on campus make their way to the Student Association, ND3.

Q: Where can I get a SmartRider form to apply for concessionary travel?
A: See Student Administration, ND1

Q: Where is the best place to buy school books?
A: The Co-Op Bookshop on the corner of Marine Terrace and Henry Street sells second hand books.
 
Q: Is there a gym on campus?
A: There is no gym on campus but we do have on-campus fitness classes and social sports run throughout the week. There are also a few gyms close by – check out Jetts and Warehouse.

Q: Where is the Student IT Helpdesk?
A: They are located in St Teresa's Library, ND7

Q: Who do I speak to about upcoming University social events?
A: Contact the Student Association ND3, on 08 9433 0587

Q: Where can I find cheap parking near campus?
A: The Collie Street car park and the Italian Club along Marine Terrace both charge $6.50 a day for UNDA students. For short term parking you will find parking bays along Mouat Street, Croke Street, Henry Street, Marine Terrace and High Street.

Q: Where is the closest ATM to campus?
A: The closest ATM is a NAB terminal on High St. Other ATMs in Fremantle are located as below:
